IMPERIAL AIRWAYS

SPEEDING-UP PROPOSALS FACTORS FOR CONSIDERATION British Wireless RUGBY, Nov. 1 The Under-Secretary of State for Air, Sir Philip Sassoon, stated in the House of Commons that his proposals announced yesterday for curtailing the times taken by existing Empire air services have been under consideration for several months. He could not make a statement at present. The speed factor in commercial air transport, and other considerations such as safety, reliability, regularity and comfort had to be taken into account. As an instance, Sir Philip cited the London-Paris route, where, in spite of the fact that a. foreign line has been re-equipped with faster machines, Imperial Airways, Ltd., carried throe times as many passengers in the past three months. Compared with the same period last year* Imperial Airways' passengers on that route had increased, while those of the foreigt line had decreased nearly 30 per cent.
