INTRUDERS' ESCAPE
ENTRY INTO HOUSE DISTURBED BY OWNER Two house intruders had a narrow escape from arrest last evening by members of t.he night police patrolMr. J. Miller, of Essex Street, Mount Eden, and a companion, happened to call at a vacant house in View Road, Mount Eden, owned by Mr. Miller, about 7.30 o'clock, when they noticed a light flashing within the house. Mr. Miller's friend hurried to a neighbour to telephone the police, while Mr. Miller took up a position near the front gate in order to block the intruders, should they attempt to escape. ;r Two men suddenly came out of the front door. Mr. Miller pursued the intruders into Wynyard Street and then to Edenrale Road, where both men escaped through a section. A police patrol car arrived within a few min-. utes, but jin spite of a search, there was no trace of the suspects.
