CANTERBURY MARKETS EXTREMELY QUIET WEEK [BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION] CHRISTCHURCH, Friday This week has been extremely quiet in the produce markets. A few parcels of potatoes are going north to Wellington and other ports, but it is not expected that many more will be wanted in Auckland, New season's potatoes are now coming into fairly general use. Values nominally for whites are £2 5s to £2 7s Gd a ton, f.0.b., sacks included, and for Dakotas £2 10s to £2 12s Gd. Fowl wheat is worth 3s 8d a bushel, f.0.b., sacks extra, for prompt delivery, the tendency having been easier. In view of the small area forecast for next year's wheat crop the movement of the market is unexpected. Oats and small seeds show no change in price and the demand for them is practically lifelcs?. The intervention of the holiday next week will confine business to very small compass.
