OBITUARY
MR. E. P. COWLES [FROM OUR OWN" CORRESPONDENT J HAMILTON, Sunday The death occurred in Hamilton to-day of Mr. Edward Packer Cowles, at the age of 64 years. Mr. Cowles was a son of the late Mr. E. Cowles, at one-time headmaster of the Richmond School, Nelson. He was born in Nelson and joined the staff of the lost and Telegraph Department in Nelson at an early age. He was employed by the department for -10 years and was telegraph engineer in Hamilton when ho retired a few years ago. He also served at. Wanganni, Foxton, Wellington, Feilding and .Auckland.' Mr. Cowles married a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Whvte, of Foxton. While in Hamilton Mr.Cowles was a member of the Hamilton Rotary Club, president of the Voting Men's Christian Association, a member of the Beautifying Society, treasurer of the W aikato Social Welfare League, a member of the Whitiora Bowling Club and a director of the Hamilton Permanent Building Society. H 0 is survived by his wife. There are no children.
