She was accompanied by her sister, Miss Oliver Kent, Epsom Miss MacCallum (Mount Albert) and Miss Prendergast (Helensville), who have been in Sydney tor the past few months, have now gone to Melbourne. Members of the Takapuna Croquet Club held a flag bridge evening in the bowlers' pavilion yesterday. Ihe joint hostesses were Mrs. W. Nagle and Mrs. Runciman. Until last year Britain's loneliest possession, the Island «f Tristan da Cunha, in the South Atlantic Ocean, was ruled by the resident missionary, the Rev. A. G. Partridge. Recently, however, an Tsland Council was instituted under the presidency of Mrs, Frances Repetto, who is assisted by her son Peter. A visitor to the island described Mrs. Repetto as a woman with the dignity of a queen. Everywhere on the island were signs of her busy hands, and of her indisputable sovereignty. The council consists of women and men elected by the island's inhabitants, who enjoy all their possessions in common.
