BABY'S NARROW ESCAPE

HEAVY STRYCHNINE DOSE 32 TABLETS SWALLOWED The 18-months-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mervvn Ross, of Parkes. New South Wales, recently swallowed 32 tablets containing strychnine as one of the ingredients—and survived. The tablets were in a cabinet, to which the child gained access. They had been prescribed for a member of the household, the usual dose being one every eight hours. The child was admitted to the district hospital, and at one stage her life was despaired of. Her condition has so improved, however, that she has been discharged from the hospital.
