BRITISH AMATEUR TEAM v DEFEAT AT ADELAIDE (Received October 21, 5.5 p.m.) ADELAIDE. Oct. 21 A contest between the British amateur golf team which is visiting Aus- | tralia for the Melbourne Centenary and | a team representing South Australia was won by the latter by one match, j The details, with the British players mentioned first in each case, are as follows: —M. Scott and T. Bourn lost to Ackland Horman and Rymill, 5 and 3; L. Garnett and J. McLean defeated Winser and McLachlan, 4 and 2; Scott and Garnett and Winser and Ackland Horman, all square; Bourn and McLean lost to McLachlan and Rymill, 2 and 1. Playing at Brisbane, Gene Sarazen and J. H. Kirkwood defeated the local professionals, Gazzard and Denholm, 4 and 3. Sarazen improved the Royal Queensland Club's record by four strokes, completing the course in 64, which is nine under par. There were 10 "birdies" on his card.
