Mrs. Lavington Bonvthon, ds;uchtei-in-law of Sir Langdon Bonvthon, and a former lady Mayoress of Adelaide, and Mrs. J. L. Leal, president of the South Australian National Council of Women. Mrs. Leal suggests the establishment of a seaside home tor country women as one of the Centenary memorials. Miss Janet Palk was appointed secretary and treasurer to the Christchurch branch of the Plunket Society at its monthlv committee meeting last week. A concert was given at the Home by the. Victoria. League Girls Committee. Miss Mavis McCulloch . was V the convener. Chorus songs were given bv the 'Misses P. Cooper,' Bartleet, Joy Bishop, Helen Ifraser, Vonnie Henderson,^vMizpah Hutchisdn and Gwen Pickett; solos bv Mrs. Humphrey Gordon and Miss Gwen Pickett: sketches and reciiaiions by Misses Marv Cruickshank, Cruickshank and Kathleen Teape; piano, solo by Miss Eria Liangsford; tap ballet by. Misses Joan Charlton, Dinah Isaacs, Kay Spriggs and Allison Lairy. Miss Erta Langsford . was the accompanist. Tobacco w;as distributed to the veterans and at the conclusion of the concert Major Wallingford "thanked the performers. The Weiti Golf Club entertained members and frieu,ds at,a social evening and dancb on Friday at, "The Flower Patch Tea Rooms,'' Silrerdale. The presentation of kilver cups donated bv the president of the club, Mr. Storey, for the best aggregate scores in medal rounds during the past season was made. The lady's trophy was won by Miss Storey and the gentleman's by Mr. Chaplin. A gold brooch presented by' Mrs. Webster for competition among the ladies was won by Miss Bayley. A gift of a cigarette case from the member's of the club was made to Mr. Storey in recognition of his work and help during the past year./. Various competitions and games were plained during the evening and supper was served by Mrs.' Green.
