KATIKATI-WAIKATO ROAD

IMPROVEMENTS ADVOCATED [by telegraph—owx correspondent] Saturday The Katikati: Agricultural and Pastoral Society has written to the Tauranga County Council urging that the opening of Thompson's Track for motor and general traffic as a connecting link between Katikati and the Waikato should be given serious attention. It was suggested that the Tauranga and Piako County Councils should confer in regard to the matter. It was pointed out that the route did not provide any great engineering difficulty, and construction work would provide employment for relief labour. When completed the road would have a seenic value. The Katikati Co-operative Dairy Company also wrote the council stating that Thompson's Track was in bad repair and the present blockage was a serious matter for the district, as during th» season thousands of cattle were moved via the route. The road was an important one, as it led into the heart cf the Waikato. The council has decided to carry out temporary repairs to the track. ,
