NORTH SHORE CLUB PRESENTATION OF PRIZES One of the representatives of New Zealand at the recent Empire Games in London, N. Crump, was formally welcomed home to Devonport at the annual pri7,e-gtving and dance of the North Shore Amateur Swimming Club on Saturday night. The Mayor of Devonport, Mr. H. F. W. Meikle, said Crump and bi.ii companions had represented New Zealand worthily. He congratulated the champion on gaining third place in the 100 yds. free-style against strong opposition. Trophies gained during last season were handed to the following winners by Mr. Meikle:—Tommy Lowe 4Memorial Shield, Waitemate, North Shore and Grammar Clubs; New Zealand junior surf championship. North Shore juniors: Morgan Cup. for lj-mile harbour race, Misa M. Galloway, 6rst, Miss L. Grey, second; trophy for fastest time in Morgan Cup race, R. Webb; rowing club's relay, St. George's Rowing: Club- business houses' relay. Bank of New Zealand; tug-of-war and combined relay, police: Munro Cap, Mies M. Gillies; Fuller Cup, Miss V. Jonnstone; Ponsonby Club's C'up, for 200 y d» intcr-club rJay, North Shore: tennis club's relay championship, for men, Ngataringa Club: Transport Surf Cup, E. Stevens; Pascoe Cup, S. Lazarus and Miss P. Johnston; Sanders War Memorial Cup, Misses J. Finlayson and J. Melliose (Vauxhall School), dcad-heat; Tainui Cup. Vauxhall School; junior girls' relay, Devonport School; junior boys' relay, Stanley Bay School; Rukmvai Shield, Stanley Bay School; Champion of Champions Cups, D. Harper (boys) and Misa J. Finlayson (girls); 50yd# championship of Takapuna Grammar School, J. Johnston; , 50yda junior girls' championship of Takapuna Grammar School, Miss J. Webb; junior harbour race. Miss J. Melhose; surf race, R. Webb. A powder bowl for the 50yds ladies' Auckland championship was presented to Miss Edna Rainey, who also received certificates for the 100 yds, 100 metres, 200 metres and 220 yds intermediate gins' championships. N, Crump received certificates for the 100 yds, 100 metres, 220 yds and 400 metres men's championships of Auckland, and Miss J. Melhose one for tho 50yds junior «irla' championship.
