INTEREST OF GOVERNMENT AID FOR LOCAL BODIES [BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION*] WELLINGTON, Thursday In opening the conference of the Town Planning Institute to-day, the Minister of Internal Affairs, the Hon. J. A. Young, announced that after careful consideration the Government did not intend to appoint a director of town planning. However, a man experienced in the work would be associated with the Department of Internal Affairs in an advisory capacity to be of service to local bodies when required. Mr Young referred to the unemployment problem and said it was very gratifying to. know the institute was co-operating with local bodies in the matter of providing work. The following officers were elected: — President. Mr. S. Blackley: vicepresidents, Messrs. A. R. Galbraith and H. F. Butcher; honorary secretary and treasurer, Mr. J. W. Maw^on.
