.WATCHMAN'S ALSATIAN DOG NEW BITUMEN WORK FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT J PUKEKOHE, Thursday A decision to allow Mr. W. A. Jordan, a night watchman employed by a number of shopkeepers in the town, /partial exempton from the recently introduced by-law at Pukekohe, which makes it unlawful to allow an Alsatian dog on the street unless it was on a lead and muzzled, was made by the Pukekohe Borough Council last night. The council had this power under a saving clause attached to the by-law whereby no persoivwas to suffer unduly through its operation. The decision was to allow the dog to be unmuzzled during the period when it was with Mr. Jordan while he was on duty as night •watchman. The foreman, Mr. S. J. Clews, reported that -materials were to hand to lay down a portion of Roulston and Edinburgh Streets in bitumen. The work would be proceeded with 111 a few days. Permission was granted the Pukekohe Cricket Association to use the Bledisloe Park Crickeii Ground, the club to contribute £s' i ; or the season. It was decided to donate £2 2s to the St. John Ambulance Association.
