For six miles ilpstream, to Proctor's Road, the top lift, which is the earthwork above the water-level, has been practically completed by hand labour. The work on the Mangatea stream, two miles 16 chains in length, and Sludge preek, one mile 70 chains, has been completed, whild the. top lift has been taken out over two miles and a-half of the Mangawara outlet. Good progress has also been made in the Tauhei stream, the first mile arid a-half, with a bottom width of 28ft., having been completed, and the top lift taken from a further two miles and a-half. Drag-line work has also been completed on the Komakorau section.
