BAND CONTEST

WHANGAREI FIXTURE Three Auckland bands—the Ponsonby Boys' Band, the Mount Eden Boys' Band and the Takapuna Citizens' Band —will leave for. Whanearei by special train early to-morrow morning to take part in a band contest, in which the other comnetitors will be the Whangarei and Dargaville. Bands. The partv from Auckland will comprise about 100. there being 32. persons in each band, in addition to several officials. The band contest will take place to-morrow afternoon, and a hymn contest will be decided on Sunday. On Monday. Labour Day, band members will be the euests of the Whangarei Gymkhana Committee at Kensington Park, and at 5.30 the return journey to Auckland will be commenced. The adjudicator at the contest will be Mr. Wynne Smith, of Auckland.
