THE PROPERTY MARKET
RE-AWAKENING OF INTEREST VIEWS OF ESTATE AGENT [BY TELEGBAPH—PBESS ASSOCIATION*] WELLINGTON', Thursday Signs of reawakening of interest in the property market, at least in the cities, was commented on to-day by Mr. Stace Bennett, of Auckland, in his presidential address to the annua! meeting of the Real Estate Institute of New Zealand. Mr. Bennett said that within the last few days, for instance, a property in Queen Street, Auckland, had changed hands, this being the first sale of a valuable retail block in this street for some years. People who, a few years ago, would not for a moment hare entertained real estate as an avenue for the employment of capital, were now viewing it in its true perspective, as the basis of all wealth and a revenue-produe-ing investment. However, before there could be much activity in the marke.t for farm lands, there would have to ht> an increase in the prices of primary products, or a further readjustment in values.
