THE AUCKLAND EXCHANGE FURTHER RISES RECORDED Renewed activity developed on the Auckland Stock Exchange yesterday and turnover showed an expansion upon that of the previous day. Upward movements predominated in the day's / transactions, with banks remaining the weakest section of the market. In Government securities ground was regained by 19-10 loans and the stock had sale 2s lid firmer at £lO5, with further support for both bonds and stock at that figure. Inquiry eased slightly for 1916 and 1949 stock, but other issues showed little movement. Rural bonds were done £ss higher than previous business, changing hands at £lO3 ss. In debentures, Mount Eden loans, on which advantage of the optional clause relating to redemption has been taken, were quoted on the basis of two maturity dates. Support for banks lacked strength / for all issues except Commercials of Australia, preference, and Reserve Banks. Commercials, preference, for the first time for many years on this market, reached par at £lO, a rise of / 2s. Reserve Ranks were vainly sought at £6 10s 3d. New Zealands were released Id lower at 48s Sd and Nationals of New Zealand receded a further 9d on sale at £3 10s. '1 bo insurance section was practically unchanged. In their first transaction since the announcement of a lower dividend, Pnkeniiro Coals were dealt in 3s 3d easier at 20s (id. Steady levels ruled in business in Auckland Gas, Kauri Timbers and Northern Steams, contributing. Tooth's Brewery registered another gain of 3d on sale at 50s 6d, following which 51s 3d was asked for further supplies. 1 Leading industrials in the miscellaneous group were firm. The record price of £75 was maintained for Colonial Sugars, with more available at that price. Burns-Philp improved 2s 7id on business done some weeks ago, in a transaction at 57s 7id and 43d more was paid for British Tobaccos at 41s 6d. Wilsons Cements also showed marked strength and two sales at 34s represented a rise of Is 6d. DunlopPerdriaus were done 5d dearer at 19s lid.
