Jf UNSETTLED WEATHER more rain expected -; The weather report and forecast fe> r New Zealand, issued last evening by the Government meteorologist, was as follows: —The depression responsible for the present unsettled weather is now crossing the Dominion, and an anticyclone is advancing across the Tasnian Sea. The indications are for strong northerly winds at first oves-the southern and* eastern portions of the North Island, but otherwise moderate to strong souther lies prevailing. Seas rather rough to rough. Eastern Tasman Sea: Strong southerly winds and rough seas. Weather: Improving gradually on the west coast of the South Island; elsewhere unsettled, with further rain; some snow on the ranges, and hail in places. Temperatures becoming cold, with some frosts inland in the south. SPECIAL AUCKLAND FORECAST COLD AND CHANGEABLE The Government meteorologist issued to the Hebald last night the following special weather forecast for the Auckland Province:—Moderate to strong south-westerly winds. The weather will be cold, changeable and showery, but beginning to improve tomorrow. Seas rough on the west coast and moderating on the east. YESTERDAY'S WEATHER Auckland.—Heavy rain fell for. several hours yesterday morning, bat ceased in the afternoon. The wind veered from north to west during the afternoon. The barometer rentained steady below normal until the evening but then commenced to rise slowly. The temperature at 4 p.m. was 65 degrees. There was a moderate northerly wind in the morning, changing to westerly and southwesterly in the afternoon. The maximum temperature was 71.1 degrees. The barometer, which was rising, registered 29.75 in. Dunedin.—Unsettled weather was experienced yesterday. Overcast conditions prevailed in the morning and rain commenced to fall shortly after mid-day. A cold south-westerly wind was blowing, and the maximum temperature was 46 degrees.
