AUCKLAND STARTERS

THIRD' MEMBER OF CREW MR. FRANK STEWART ■The third member of the crew of the New Zealand Centenary Air Race Committee's entry,, a de Havilland Rapide, in Mr. Frank Stewart, of Auckland, who will act as wireless operator on the flight. It is also possible that he will accompany Squadron-Leader J. D. Hewett and Flying-Officer C. E. Kay, both of Auckland, if they decide to fly the Taisman at the conclusion of the London-Melbourne race. Mr. Stewart, who travelled from Auckland to England with the other members of the Rapide's crew last July, is better known in New Zealand as a press photographer, who specialises in aerial work, and his pictures have appeared frequently in the New Zealand Hebald and The Weekly News. Most of Mr. Stewart's very considerable flying in the Dominion has been as a passenger in Squadron-Leader Hewett's own Moth machine. They were the , first pair to fly over White Island and obtain photographs. Mr. Stewart, who is also well known in Sydney, was one of the first to make moving pictures in New Zealand.
