LABOUR DAY HOLIDAY
RELIEF WORKERS' POSITION PROVISION FOR PAYMENT Labour Day, which is to fee observed next Monday, is to be reearded as a Holiday for all relief workers other than those engaged on foil time or subsidised jobs. In a statement issued, yesterday, the Unemployment Board announced that the workers who will not come nnder this holiday provision are those employed under schemes 4a, 4b, 4c, 7, 10 and 11. Those workers who axe eligible and who would ordinarily be employed on Labour Day, will be paid as if they had worked, but any relief worker who would ordinarily be standing down on that day is not to be paid, even if in. osier respects iie appears to be eligible. The schemes referred to as being exempt are those under which subsidies are paid. Schemes 4a, 4b and 4c relate to work on farms, 7 is subsidised work for boys on sheep stations, 10 is the building subsidy scheme, and II the assisted rabbiting schemelit was also explained yesterday that payment for the holiday would not fee made to men engaged on the HocscnvilEe air base, where the work is contraißsd by the Public Works Department and i 3 full-time employment.
