DOINGS IN ADELAIDE VISIT TO UNIVERSITY SCHOLARS' PILGRIMAGES BENEFIT TO THE EMPIRE By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright (Received October 15, 9.5 p.m.) ADELAIDE. Oct. 15 The Duke of Gloucester to-day visited the South Australian University where an honorary degree of Doctor oir Laws was conferred upon him. In responding His Royal Highness advocated an extension of university pilgrimages and a flow of young men coming regularly from Britain to the seats of learning in the Dominions. The friendships thus formed, the sympathy established and the ideas exchanged between those who ought to be leaders of their respective peoples could not fail to-have a profound effect on the future of*the Empire. The Royal visitor then went to the adjoining Oval, where about 3000 returned sailors and soldiers gave him a rousing reception. Later he placed & wreath on the State war memorial. The Duke spent Sunday at the homestead of one of the best-known pioneering families of South Australia, as the guest of Mr. and Mrs. J. Keith Angas, at Lindsay Park, near Angaston. The Duke attended divine Service in St, Peter's Cathedral in the evening. MELBOURNE VISIT TRAFFIC CONTROL DISPUTE POLICE AND CITY COUNCIL (Received October 15, ll.Sii p.m.) MELBOURNE, Oct. II A dispute has arisen between the Melbourne City Council and the Commissioner of Police over the latter & order restricting evening traffic in the city streets while the Duke of Gloucester is here. The order says that only a single file of cars will be allowed in the city area to witness the illuminations and that they must pass through without stopping unless the occupantis are attending theatres. The commissioner is emphatic that the order will be enforced.
