ROADMAKER'S DEATH While road-making in the Maggie Creek district, near Kawatiri, in the Upper Buller district, recently, Mr Noel Urban Oliver, aged 26 years, son of the late Mr. Frederick Oliver, of Auckland, met with a fatal accident. With his mate, Mr. A. Stewart, he was splitting slabs for the road when an old, decayed tree about L r j yards distant fell and caught him. Serious injuries were sustained and the injured man was taken to the nearest house on an improvised stretcher, but death ensued a few hours later. Mr. Stewart escaped injury.
