Deputations have been sent to Wellington and have waited on the Minister of Mine 3, Hon. C. K. Maemillan, and also given evidence before Parliamentary Mines' Committee. 1? urther resolutions were recently passed by the league and forwarded to the Minister of Mines. The following answer was to-day received from Mr. Macmillan: —"I have to advise you that in view of my assurance that interests other than mining interests will be reasonably safeguarded by the imposition of conditions on future mining privileges granted in the area, it is not considered that a special amendment to the Mining Act is necessary:"
