BLIZZARD IN ANTARCTIC
WEATHER IMPROVING PARTIES PREPARE TO LEAVE (Received October 8. 5.5 p.m.) NE"W YORK, Oct. 7 The following message has beei} received from Rear-Admiral Byrdi's base in the Antarctic, Little America: — The blizzard which assailed this community for three days is now lifting, after depressing the barometer to the lowest level ever registered in this part of' the Antarctic. The second tractor party is preparing for the journey to Admiral Byrd's outpost. The tractor will carry 30001b. of dog pemmican which will be stored for use. Two sledging parties are scheduled to depart soon to explore the Queen Maude range and the South Polar plateau.
