AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP Mclean leads albertson [by telegraph—press association] DUNEDIN, Friday With half of the final of 1500 in the New Zealand amateur billiard championship concluded, H. McLean (Christchurch) i;ii leading A. Albertson (Lyttelton) by 190 points, the scores being McLean, 752, and Albertson, 562. There was a fairly large attendance in the Returned Soldiers' Hall to-night to witness, the game, which will be completed to-morrow night. McLean was playing far more consistent billiards than his opponent, making effective use of the losing hazard, and he soon went into the lead, retaining it until the adjournment. When he reached the score of 506 his opponent was at 409. A fine break of 62 brought the latter to 471, but, while he scored only eight more points, McLean went on to 735, with the assistance of a 44 break. McLean then came to a standstill, when he wanted only 15 to finish the session, and bofore he could make the required number Albertson had brought his score to 562.
