ONEHUNGA TRAMS

TRACK AT TERMINUS In view of the confidence of the officials of the board that it would be possible with the existing track to cope with the expected increase in trarri traffic; after the opening of the nark at Geddes Basin, the Auckland Transport Board at a meeting held yesterday decided to postpone the duplication olf the track at the Oriehunga terminus. The secretary, Mr. W. St. J. Clarke, reported that the cost of duplication and the provision of a loop and crossover, using where practicable secondhand material, would be approximately £6OO. The chairman, Mr. J. A. C. Allum., suggested that the existing track should be given a trial, arid if it was found adequate for the traffic, as indicated by the .board's officials, a saving of £6OO would be effected. Otherwise, the work would have to be carried out. Mr. li. Morton opposed the postponement of the work, which he considered was essential to relieve congestion. It was decided to postpone tve work until the opening of the park, when it would be possible to determine whether the duplication was required for tho traffic. The motion was opposed by Mr. Morton.
