FIRE DESTROYS HOUSE
BLAZE AT UPPER HUTT GIRL SLIGHTLY BURNED [iiy telegraph—press association] WELLINGTON. Saturday A six-roomed house at Upper Hutt, owned and occupied by Mr. J. A. "W. Gow, railway signalman, wan totally destroyed Dy fire, together with the contents, at 3 o'clock this morning. The finhad a strong hold when the occupants awoke, and the local brigade was powerless to suppress the flames owing to the wind. The occupants escsiped hurriedly, bub believing that a child was still inside, at girl attempted to enter the building and was slightly burned about the neck. The house and furniture were insured for £6OO in the South British Office, and the effects for £2OO in the Sun Office.
