GEYSERS STILL ACTIVE
WMAKARSWAREWA DISPLAYS GREAT WEEK-END SPECTACLE [by telegraph—owx correspondent] KOTORUA, Sunday Geysers at Whakarewarewa continued to be active during the week-end. Pohutu played for nearly half an hour yesterday, sending up shots to a height of 100 ft., which, in the absence of the usual dense haze and steam, presented a magnificent sight. Waikorohihi Geyser, near Pohutu, has been playing continuously for several days, and the terrace formation that lias been built up as a result of a previous prolonged activity of this geyser is regaining beautiful colours. Further activity occurred to-day. Pohutu Geyser began playing at 7 a.m. and during the day sent up eight shots. This is the first time for two years that the geyser has played on three successive days. The Waikiti and Papakura geysers also were active. The Waikorohihi Geyser began playing this evening.
