LITTLE BOY'S DEATH —————— "j FALL INTO HOT BATH r||f UNCLE'S TEMPORARY ABSENCE^ Fatal scalds were received by a child, !§j Michael Brook, aged two years and si* months, when he fell into a bath containing hot water at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. Brook, of 32 Seccornbe Road, Newmarket, about noon on Saturday. The child was attended by a doctor and was admitted -A; to the Auckland Hospital, where he died shortly before 2.30 yesterday morning.
A bath was being prepared by an gjsi uncle of the child, Mr. John Murray,, who was carrying buckets of hot water from the wash-house. When the bath was about a quarter full of water Mr. £- Murray went to the wash-house for the last bucketful. On his return to the bathroom he found that the child had fallen into the bath. • J The child was severely scalded and after receiving attention from Dr. W. < : ' N. Abbott was taken to hospital, where he died about 14 hours later. An inquest will be opened this morning by Mr. W. R. McKean, S.M., coroner.
