They aro compiled by the Quotations Committee, Smithfield. To arrive at tho equivalent ex ship values one farthing per pound should be deducted from the prices quoted above. Quotations given represent the average for the week, and are not selected lines, but for parcels fairly representative of the bulk of shipments now on offer. MUTTON PRICES EASIER LAMB MARKET STEADY The Bank of New Zealand has received the following advice from its London office as at the close of business last week: —Wethers: Larger supplies have caused prices to weaken. Ewes: There is a moderate demand; prices aro a shade lower. Lambs: The market is weaker for second quality; first grades remain steady. Quotations: —Wethers, light, 5d to 5Jd per lh.; heavy, 4Jd to 4?d; ewes, 3jd to 4Jd; lambs, twos, 7d to 7 J t d; eights, 6Jd to 6«d; fours, Gd to 6}d; seconds, 6Jd to 63d. The weekly report of the New Zealand Meat Producers' Board states:— Lambs: The market is quietly steady for prime light-weights and mediumweights, but second quality and prime heavy-weights slightly weaker. Mutton: Heavier arrivals have slightly eased eased prices. Beef: The market is dull, with prices unchanged. New Zealand porkers: Tho market is steady and unchanged. New Zealand baconers: Tho market is quiet and unchanged. IMPORTS OF EGGS REDUCTION BY BRITAIN (Received September 23, 5.5 p.m.) LONDON, Sept. 22 The Ministry of Agriculture announces that it is reducing foreign esig imports and initiating discussions with the Dominions and the Irish Freo State with a view to arranging for reductions. BUILDING SOCIETY'S YEAK [FIIOM OCR OWN CORRESPONDENT] WHANGAREI. Saturday The 10th annual report of the Whangarei Co-operative Terminating Building Society, to bo presented at the annual meeting of tho society on September 28, states that the profits of No. 1 group for tho year were £394, against £654 in the previous year. The profits of No. 2 group were £193, against £47 in the previous year. The total accumulated profits in the No. 1 group were now £9120. In tho No. 2 group the accumulated profits were now £241. Messrs. H. W. Crawford and W. J. Orr retire by rotation from the directorate and aro eligible for re-election.
