CLOUDY TO OVERCAST RAIN DEVELOPING The weather report and forecast for New Zealand, issued last evening by the Government meteorologist, was as follows: —An anti-cvclone of considerable intensity covers New Zealand, while a rather deep depression is located in the south-west Tasman Sea. The indications are for light to moderate and variable winds with northcrlies predominating and gradually freshening. Seas smooth to moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea: Moderate to strong and increasing northerly winds, seas becoming rough. The weather will be mainlyi cloudy to overcast, with mist or fog in places, otherwise fine at first with rain gradually developing in western districts and becoming fairly general after about 24 hours. Temperatures mild. SPECIAL AUCKLAND FORECAST INDICATIONS OF RAIN The Government meteorologist issued to the Herald last night the following special weather forecast for the Auckland Province: —Light to moderate and variable winds, gradually tending northerly and freshening. Christchurch. —The weather yesterday was cool and overcast with a, 3 moderate easterly to north-easterly breeze and rain in the early morning. The maximum temperature was 49.9 degrees. The barometer was falling slightly, and registered 30.20 in. Dunedin.—The weather yesterday wag fine, but unsettled, with a cold northeasterly breeze and very little sunshine.
