Pepper, stated to-day that the allegation of Mr. B. C. Sims, manager of the South African team, that some of the foreign competitors were males, was absurd.! It assumes that his remarks were directed against the Gerjn&n competitors, although they neither shaved nor spoke with deep voices. Sept. 20 Miss Eileen Crockart, who represented South Africa in field events at the Women's World Games, said quite a few of the women athletes had strong beards like a man and had to shave daily.
