SEX OF COMPETITOES ALLEGATION REFUTED s GERMAN RESENTMENT By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright LONDON. Sept. 20 The official who acted as referee at the recent Women's World Games, Mr. W. <T. Pepper, stated to-day that the allegation of Mr. B. C. Sims, manager of the South African team, that some of the foreign competitors were males, was absurd.! " It would have been impossible," he declared. A message from Berlin states that one newspaper describes Mr. Sims' allegations as "a grotesque slander." It assumes that his remarks were directed against the Gerjn&n competitors, although they neither shaved nor spoke with deep voices. MASCULINE TRAITS STRONG BEARDS OBSERVED FEMALES NEVERTHELESS CAPETOWN. Sept. 20 Miss Eileen Crockart, who represented South Africa in field events at the Women's World Games, said quite a few of the women athletes had strong beards like a man and had to shave daily. "We satisfied ourselves they were females all right, but in every other respect I would call them more men than women," she said. CANADIAN OPINION COMPETITORS WHO SHAVED VANCOUVER. Sept. 20 Canadian women who attended the recent Women's World Games in London are laughing at the suggestion made by Mr. B. C. Sims that some of the European competitors were men. Hilda Strike confirms the fact that some shaved, but states that many of them, particularly the Germans, had heavy growths of hair.
