"THE RUNAWAY GIRL"
AMATEUR OPERATIC SOCIETY Arrangements are proceeding for the Auckland Amateur Operatic Society's second production of the season, "The Runaway Girl," which is to be given in His Majesty's Theatre for a short season in Novembor. Major P. H. Lampen, who produced so successfully "The Bello of Now York " for tho society, is to be producer and Mr. Colin Muston, who has been musical director for so many of the socioty's productions, will again be in charge of the musical side of tho production. The first scene depicts tho grounds of a convent and for the song, " Tho Convent Bell," tho only chromatic set of bells in the Southern Hemisphere is to bo used in the orchestra. These belong to the Bohemian Orchestra and were made specially for them in London. Particularly attractive frocking is to be a feature of the production and the, ensembles and ballets give ample scope for picturesque staging.
