IN THE GARDEN

Dear Miss Morton.—Just a few lines to let you know that I have noticed a few more things that let us know that spring is here The frogs are beginning to croak, the willow trees are getting their leaves, also the fruit trees. My garden is a mass of yellow and white flowers, another of my gardens have violets. lilies, primroses, jonquils, daffodils, snowdrops, stocks and some little blue flowers; they have a very sweet scent. 1 forgot to tell you that our roses aro shooting again; we have had a white rose flowering up until a month ago. Our neighbour had twin lambs in his paddock yesterday: they were dear little things with long legs and their ears were standing straight up. We have had wet weather for i long time, but the stars are shining tonight. I hope it is sunny to-morrow, so I can weed my garden and tidy the paths; they are not very untidy, but I like to see a tidy path round a garden, don't you? A cheeky little black and white rabbit ate the best cabbage off the other morning. I saw him having a nibble when I got up.—Your loving pen-friend, Nellie Andersen, Hangitikt (gge 14).
