23 NAILS IN BODY

Btated to have been under the delusion that she had deceived her husband in some way or other, a woman, while in hospital, declared that she swallowed a number of nails because "she wanted to punish herself by causing herself some pain."

It was revealed at the St. Pancras inquest on Mrs. Ada Jane Trigg, aged 55, that 23 nails were recovered from the woman's body. According to the husband, Mrs. Trigg had lately been in a nervous condition. In his opinion she mistook a box of nails, which was near her bed, for her cup of tea. It was explained that the nails did/not bring about Mrs. Irigg's death, which resulted from conditions arising from blood trouble. A verdict of "Death from natural causes" was recorded.
