WEEK-END EXCURSION
TRAIN TO NEW PLYMOUTH The week-end railway excursion to New Plymouth attracted wide patronage, and the special train left Auckland at 9.25 last night with six carriages and about 200 passengers. It was expected that many more would be added on route, particularly at Frankton. is the first time the Railway Department has arranged an excursion to New Plymouth, and the special concession was the issue of return tickets to Stratford, Inglewood and Now Plymouth at single rates. In order that passengers might use to the fullest extent their sojourn of two days in Taranaki, an agent travelled on the train to make all arrangements about accommodation A representative of New Plymouth: motoring companies was also on the train to assist those who desired to plan motor trips. The train is scheduled to reach New Plymouth at 8.15 this morning. It will leave on the return journey at 7.20 p.m. to-morrow, reaching Auckland at G. 40 a.m. on Monday.
