ESCAPE FROM GAOL

MAN IN LEG-IRONS ENCOUNTER WITH POLICE BRISBANE. Sept. 2® John Sleeth, aged 24, made a daring escape from Warwick gaol, although he was hampered by leg-irons. As Sleeth had escaped from the gaol on three previous occasions he was placed in the leg-irons when he was incarcerated. It is believed that the man used tho handle of a bucket to remove mortar from the bricks, then pulled out about 30 bricks and made his way to an adjoining cell which was not locked. Ho proceeded into the yard and scaled a 12ft. wooden wall. A few days ago Sleeth eluded the police after several shots had been fired in the main street of Warwick.
