Mr. A. J. Court's 28ft. launch Jean has been fitted with a 125 horse-power Lycoming motor. The 26ft. launch Bluewing, owned by Mr. A. P. Thode.has been fitted with a new dodger by Mr. P. Yos. The new 43ft. by lift. (iin. fishing boat Zealandia has been fitted with a 44 horse-power K2 model Kelvin engine.
A 35ft. by 10ft. fishing launch is being constructed by Messrs. W. G. Lowe and Son, of Freeman's Bay, for a local fisherman. The 40ft. bridge deck cruiser now under construction by Mr. C. Wild for Mr. L. E. Mac Queen, has been equipped with a 165 horse-power Lycoming motor.
The H. class mullet boat Starloch, owned by Mr. R. McCallum, is undergoing an extensive refit by Mr. P. Vos of Freeman's Bay. The overhaul includes a new cabin top.
An order for an 18ft M. class boat has been placed with Mr. W. Rogers by Mr. W. Parkes, late of Whangarei and now of Auckland. The new boat will be French polished and a start on her will be made at aq early date. The 16ft. S. class boat Marlene has had her cabin top removed and will carry another 50 square feet of sail this season. Her sister ship, Scimitar, will be rigged like a patiki this year but will not do very much racing.
Good progress is being made by Messrs. Collings and Bell on Mr. W. A. Boucher's bridge deck cruiser- This boat is 47ft. overall with a beam of 13ft. 6in. and a draught of Bft. 4in. Her planking is full length kauri with mahogany trimming. A new 14ft. by 6ft. 3in. T. class boat has been completed by Mr. W. Rogers for Mr. H. Bailey. This craft has a longer entrance than the usual 14 footer and has very graceful lines. She has been named Treasure and will carry 230 square feet of sail.
The Speedcraft Boat Company of Judge's Bay has recently completed a 32ft. by 9ft. 6in. bridge deck cruiser for Mr. C. B. H. Miller. The boat has a stateroom forward and a large main cabin and galley aft. Fitted below the bridge deck is a 35 horse-power Thornycroft motor. An order for a 24ft. by Bft. 3in launch has been placed with the Bame firm by an Auckland resident. This boat will have a large galley and a small bridge deck with upholstered seats and all controls at the owner's finger-tips. She will be fitted with a 4-cylinder motor and will have sleeping accommodation for four persons.
Work has been commenced on a 27ft. by Bft. 6in. fast runabout for use on Lake Taupo. She will be powered with a 6-cylinder motor.
