THE AUCKLAND EXCHANGE record insurance levels Operations on the Auckland Stock Exchange yesterday were marked by a particularly strong demand for insurance shares, which moved to record levels on sale. Most sections of the market shared in an increased turnover at generally unchanged to higher levels.

Further advances were made in offers for sonic Government loans. The 1940 4 per cent bonds changed hands 7s Cd higher at £IOB 7s Gd, the correspond ; ing stock selling unchanged at the same price. The 1949 4 per cent stock was dealt in a: £llO 17s 6d, a rise of 12s 6d. There were three transactions in the 1f.5.7 issue, which sold initially unchanged at and rose to £ll2 10s, the record frice for any loan, before shading to ;2112 2s 6d. The banks group was active, with improvement in tl e Australian issues. Australasias were done at £l2 3s, a rise of 14s 6d within a month, and Commercials gayied Id in a transfer at 17s 2d. New South Wales were released 2s 6d dearer at £32 17s 6c!. Two pales in Nationals jof New Zealand at £3 15s showed drop of 6(1, and New Zealands were secured 2d cheaper at 48s.

Offers for practically all Dominion insurances were advanced, New Zealands being sough*. 9d higher at 67s and South British at 89s, a rise of Is 6d. New Zealands sold at 675, a gain of Is 9d, and South British 2s higher at 90s. Nationals were done Id higher at 20s 4d. In the general sections, Kaur:t Timbers registered a further gain, selling 2d higher at 20s 3d, and gaiapoi "Woollens, 7s paid, were placed 6d dearer at 4s 3d. Colonial Sugars dropped 2s 6d in a transfer at £67, while Consolidated Bricks rose by 9d in two sales lit 10s £d. New Zealand Refrigeratings, £1 paid, also improved on sale.
