SUCCESSES IN SPORT
TROPHIES FOR AUCKLAND A display of sporting trophies illustrating the remarkable success enjoyed by Auckland athletes is at present being made in the windows of Milne and Chovce, Limited. There are on exhibition shields representing achievement in major sporting events in New Zealand, and it. is believed that on no previous occasion have the trophies been held at the same time by one province. The display was arranged by Mr. F W. Lucas, the former All Black. The trophies, which will be on exhibition until next week, are as follows:— Ranfurly Shield, for the leading interprovincial Rugby team; Plunket Shield, for interprovincial cricket; English Football Association Trophy, for interprovincial Association football; New Zealand Hockey Association Challenge Shield, for interprovincial hockey; and the Yaldhurst and War Memorial Shields, for senior and junior-intermediate interprovincial swimming respectively. Accompanying the trophies are interesting particulars of the history of tho awards.
