NO NOMINATIONS
HELENSVILLE TOWN BOARD SEVEN MEMBERS NEEDED No nominations were received for the seven seats on the Helensville Town Board when the sitting board's twoyear term finished recently, a situation which must be rare in local body affairs in the Dominion. The district is now in the position that no expenditure, except for standing charges such as wages, can be authorised until a new board is elected. Further nominations have been called and will close on Saturday, while an election will be held on Thursday, October 4.
When nominations closed on September (5, four members of the retiring board attended at *the returning office, but rather than leave three vacancies to bo filled later, they did not allow their nominations to proceed. Two of the retiring members, Dr. F. Matheson and Mr. A. G. Lowe, had signified that they would not be seeking reelection, while another retiring member is stated to have forgotten to arrange for his nomination.
