WOMEN'S DIVISION

Meetings of branches of Thames Women's Division of tho Farmers' "Union are as follows: Thames Valley Executive. —Mrs. Drinkwater, president, presided over a very large attendance of delegates and friends. Parcels of clothing were liandod in for the community chest. Branches had made special efforts for provincial funds and several donations were handed in. Mrs. Drinkwater gave a report on the recent conference held in Wellington. The Netherton branch were hostesses for luncheon. Owing to such a demand for housekeepers the secretary is finding it vory difficult to supply regular ones as all are engaged at present. Ngarua.—Mrs. J. Scott gave a demonstration of lamp shade making and was accorded a vote of thanks. At the next meeting the competition is for something new from something old. Mrs. Donovan presided. Ngatea.—Five new members were enrolled. Gardening hints were given by Mesdames Motion and Dudding and proved to bo instructive and interesting. The president gave a short talk on "Friendship." Slippers were handed in which had been made up by members during the month.
