DEVONPORT SENIORS WIN DEFEAT OF 'NORTH AUCKLAND 'I [from our own correspondent] WHANGAREI, Monday ' 1( Supporters of the Rugby League code wete treated to a hard and fast game at Hikurangi on Saturday, when the Devonport senior team beat North Auckland aenior representatives by 17 points to 11. The game was played in showery weather > and there was a good attendance. Laing, ~ the Devonport fullback, kicked splendidly and was responsible for eight points, con- ' verting three tries and kicking a penalty goal. Rhodes as hp If back performed well and -rf-as splendid in defence. Newton. wing-threequarter, was also prominent in several passing rushes. Scott was outstanding among the forwards and was alwayi with the ball. For North Auckland, R." White, five-eighths, was the outstanding player of his Bide and scored all three i tries. As a curtain-raiser, the. semi-final in the junior knock-out competition was played between Kamo and Whakawaro, resulting in a win for Kamo by 12 points to 2.
