MOTOR-CYCLIST INJURED

GT. SOUTH ROAD COLLISION MISHAP NEAR TRAM TERMINUS A fracture of a leg was suffered by a motor-cyclist, Mr. Peter Hirlston, of Russell Crescent, Ellerslie, at about 11.30 yesterday morning, when the machine he was riding was involved in a collision on the Great South Road with a motor-car driven by Mr. J. Heffernan, of 33 O'Neill Street, Ponsonby. Mr. Hirlston, who is employed as a gardener at k the Alexandra Convalescent Home, Ellerslie, was travelling in the direction of the city. The car had come from the direction of the city and was turning into Campbell Road, near the tram terminus. ~

The motor-cycle came into collision with the off-side front wheel of the car and was badly damaged. The wheel of the car was torn off by the impact. The injured man was taken to the Auckland Hospital in a St. John ambulance.
