THEFT OF STEER

MAORIS BEFORE COURT [by telegraph —own correspondent} KAWHIA, Friday Before justices in the Kawhia Police Court, three Maoris, -Neo Karapa, lianui 'Tawhi and Tom Tawhi, were charged with the theft of a steer, the property of A. A. Dent, Owhiro. Constable Carron said that the beast was led from open land to the bush and shot, the meat being used at a taugi. The ears were removed, making identification difficult.
