Bete Gage, aged 49, wife of Mr. Rangi Gage and daughter of the late Hemi Watepe., Mrs. Gage was a chieftainess of the iNgatimaru (Thames) and . Ngatiakua (Matamata) tribes, and also • was the last member of a famous family. There was a large gathering of f natives at a tangi held at Kirikiri today. ■
