Sept. 5 In sweltering heat to-daiy 15,000 Nazis, in brown uniforms, packed the vast Luitpold Hall in Nuremberg, which was decorated with colossal swastikas when Herr Rudolf Hess, Herr Hitler's deputy, formally opened the Nazi Congress. Herr Hitler, accompanied by his lieutenants, entered amid a roar of cheering. After paying tribute to the late President Hindenburg, Herr Kess reaffirmed that Herr Hitler, whom he effusively praised, was the sole director of the Nazi Party. That evolution, not resolution, must be the N&zi watchword henceforward, was the keynote of a proclamation composed by Herr Hitler and read by Dr. Adolf Wagner. The revolution had fulfilled all expectations;, but it was necessary to warn fanatics that the revolution had now concluded. There would be no more revolutions in German for 1000 years. The Nazi movement had completely mastered Germany. The proclamation asked: "Who dares to contend that the Na si leaders are not the cream of the movement? The leaders, therefore, are determined to maintain their power. I?hey will not surrender to anybody." The proclamation went on to state that the army's position as sole arms bearer provided final security for the new State. Their enemies took pleasure in regarding 4,000,000 " noes " in the recent plebiscite as a source of danger. " That makes us smile," said the proclamation. " We have dene everything possible to seek friendship with our opponents in the war, realising that a new European war would inevitably produce Communist chaon." It was claimed that the unemployed in Germany had been reduced by 4,500j000.
