BIRKENHEAD BOROUGH
At a meeting of the Birkenhead Borough Council on Wednesday it was decided to hold a public meeting in a fortnight to discuss the establishment of a public library for Birkenhead. A letter from the Birkenhead Unemployed Association requested standard rates of pay for work on fill main highways. The dephty-mayor, Mr. Q. B. Hewson, said no subsidised main highway work was in progress. There was no intention of undertaking such work with relief labour*
