RACECOURSE SENSATION
MYSTERY WINNER VANISHES BIG TOTALISATOR COUP ' (Received August 19, 5.5 p.m.) PARIS. August 18 Starting at long odds at Enghien, near Paris, in a race reserved for horses which had not previously won £125 in prize money a mysterious horse named Hallencourt not only won easily but broke the course record. • The jockey took the horse straight to the course exit. Inquiries by the stewards revealed that every one connected with the horse had vanished after collecting £4OOO from the totalisator. Subsequently it was found that the trainer had placed Hallencourt in a van bound for the south of Franco and had sold it en route. He also sold it before his departure as part of a valuable stable. Neither the horse nor the trainer can now be traced.
