ACTIVITY OF BURGLARS
THEFT AT SANDRINGHAM £6O IN GOODS AND CASH A combined shop and dwelling in Sandringham Road was entered by burglars on Saturday night during the abseuce of the occupants. Goods and cash to the value of £6O were stolen. The theft was discovered on the return of the proprietor of the business shortly before 10.30 p.m. Three Onehunga houses were visited by burglars on Friday night, and bedrooms were searched while the occupants were asleep. Men's trousers, purses, and chests of drawers were searched, and from the three houses a sum of approximately £l3 was taken. Of this total, £lO was stolen from a house in Selwyn Street. One of tlio other houses was also in Selwyn Street, the third being in Wharf Road. Cash was apparently the only objective, as no other articles were removed. Several thefts have occurred in the Balmoral district in the past few days, and; as in all cases, the houses had been securely locked, and there was no evidence of doors or windows having been forced, it is thought that tho thief has been operating with a skeleton key. Rings and other articles of a total value of £lO were taken from Mr Ernest Gard's houso at 32 King Edward Street, and jewellery worth about £3 was stolen from Mr. Louis llocard's home, at 126 Balmoral Road. The house of Mr. J. Barber, 67 Peary Road, was also entered, and severill small articles 'valued at £1 wero stolon.
