GAMING ACT BREACHES

MEN IN BILLIARD SALOON [BY TELEGRAPH —OWN CORRESPONDENT] WANGANUI, Saturday A visit paid by the police to a billiard saloon in Wanganui at a late hour last night resulted in the appearance of 25 men in the Wanganui Police Court to-day. The proprietor of ,tho saloon was charged with keeping his premises as a common gaining house and tlio other accused were each charged with being found in a common gaining house without lawful excuse. Detective Walsh said nine of the accused were relief workers and it was difficult to understand their presence in a gaming house. The saloon proprietor was fined £22 and 22 of the other accused were each fined £2. The charges against the remaining two men were,dismissed.
